Italian language and culture

Learning Italian while you are on holiday might be a good opportunity for making your vacation a useful, other than funny experience. There are several language schools for foreigners in Florence, Siena, Pisa and Lucca and this is a great occasion for exchanging your experience with people from other countries.

If you are too lazy for moving to a school another possibility is to have an Italian teacher coming to your holiday home. Italian lessons attended open-air, in front of a beautiful scenery, might be certainly more relaxing, and certainly more personalised on the topics you are  interested in.

Maremma one of the wildest and most fascinating regions of Tuscany

The area called Maremma is one of the wildest and most fascinating regions of Tuscany. It stretches from  the South-West coast of Tuscany, with villages like Massa Marittima and Talamone, to the inner villages of the region such as Saturnia (known worldwide for the famous thermal baths), Scansano, Sorano, Pitigliano and Sovano.

It is a timeless region, rich in culture, landscapes and history, not to forget food & wine as the area is also able to offer many typical products and very high quality wines, as the Bolgheri, the Bianco di Pitigliano or the Morellino di Scansano.

There are plenty of places to visit in this region: medieval villages, Etruscan sites, natural reserves, museums and much more.  You won’t never feel to have seen everything!

The most fascinating aspect is however the natural landscape, which also includes some natural parks. Maremma is also famous for its “Butteri”, a sort of Tuscan cowboys usually riding a particular white horse called “Maremmano” to manage the local cattle. There are also a few festivals and parades held in some villages of Maremma,  where the Butteris compete in some ability games.

In order to get the best and deeper experience of life in Maremma we think that a truly interesting possibility would be  staying in an organic farm. The organic farm where we rent Santa Barbera and Monte Cavallo is a real oasis in the Maremma oasis. Here the owners have developed their own activity producing natural oils and cosmetics (extracted from the local herbs and plants) which reflects their love for nature, in total harmony  with the surrounding landscape. We are sure that once there, you will not want to leave!
